It's not just sneakers anymore...
Today’s biggest fashion shock: The second collaboration between menswear designer John Varvatos and legendary sneaker brand Converse is a gorgeous synthesis of the two brands, and we want almost everything.
Considering the look of the F/W’08 collection, it should come as no surprise that rock chick (and is-she-or-isn’t-she girlfriend of Pete Doherty) Irina Lazareanu models most of the clothes. The collection is street yet soiree, combining a sense of well-groomed fashion with an edgy streetwise look.
The designer even paid attention to his color names, carefully selecting “Paper Bag Brown” for his leather peacoat (a leather peacoat?!), “Petrol” for his Silk Georgette Dress, “Pop Red” for his beaded waistcoat, and “Noir” instead of the standard “black.”
But the best part of the collection is how far his vision for the line seems to have come from the last one— even the models were cooler for Fall’08… and we think it’s outstanding that a menswear designer has such a good grasp on satin bows and camisoles.
You can find images from this intriguing collection on the John Varvatos website, where you can also spend time peeping at images of the adorable boys that Varvatos dresses during his day job!
