Singer and song-writer Hamza Robertson was born in Lancashire in the North-West of England. From an early age he took part in a variety of bands, writing songs and playing a variety of instruments, later becoming lead singer, keyboard player and guitarist in a band he ...formed with his friends. His interest in music led him to studying Performing Arts & Popular Music. After converting to Islam, Hamza has channelled his love for music towards a new dynamics in calling to God, or 'dawah', in a new world, through producing songs with a positive message. He feels that too many people know too little about Islam and the beauty of its essential values, values which bring about harmony between people, as opposed to discord. Hamza believes that music, being a powerful source of energy, can be employed to influence people toward either good or bad. He feels there is too much 'negative music' in the world giving people the wrong message, and bringing about within them the desire to do things which are against their inherently pure nature, i.e their 'fitrah' Hamza’s debut album, Something About Life, has brought a fresh sound and style to Muslim music. His deep lyrics, catchy melodies, and distinctive voice have made him stand out from other artists and won him a strong following. “The biggest hope for crossover success might lie with Hamza Robertson… He is mop-haired, boyishly handsome and given to talking about the positive spiritual effect of music with a strangely familiar wide-eyed wonderment: were it not for the references to Mohammed - "peace and blessing be upon him" - you could be talking to Richard Ashcroft or Ian Brown or any one of those north-western singers of mystical bent… His debut album Something About Life offers soft rock not unlike that of Yusuf….
